Alabama Organic Cotton

Have you heard? There is an Alabama Organic Cotton Movement in the works…

The wonderful people at Billy Reid and Alabama Chanin have begun what is thought to be the first privately owned organic cotton field in Alabama,

in hopes of raising awareness about the importance of sustainable textiles.

In order to show my support, I drove myself down to Trinity, AL

and stomped around their cotton fields.

Weeds were pulled as well, but mainly just stomping.

We’re  going back next week, and probably every week after that until it’s time to harvest.

If someone is willing to go out of their way to provide local fiber grown here in the South,

you bet Drop Metal is going to be there to support it.

Won’t you join us?
